Beginners' Guide to Types of CPU Cooling Systems
CPU is the heart of any gaming computer system and heating up of this unit is a major problem that can damage the unit in long run. Due to overrunning of the machines, it becomes highly important to maintain temperature of it using an efficient air or CPU liquid cooler. If the CPU remains idle for long, a simple stock cooler is enough. But central processing units that undergo heavy work pressure and get very heated up, needs a proper powerful cooling system to prevent any damage. Without using a reliable cooler for your CPU, you put it at high risk that may later require heavy repair services to get the machine back in functional manner. Before buying any machine cooler, it is important to understand the two basic types of it available to maintain various CPUs.
CPU Liquid Cooler
Liquid cooling systems for the CPU is a much popular choice due to its incredible cooling effect and visual appearance that can well go with your gaming PC unit. As the name suggests, these coolers based on liquid (mostly water) can easily absorb heat from the CPU and ensure enhanced heat control compared to those based on air. There is a wide variety of CPU liquid coolers that differ according to their configuration. But the most common model in use is the powerful All-in-One (AIO) system.
Process
To understand the functioning of this cooler type, you can simply look it as the process involved in a car radiator. The liquid is circulated via the water blocks that is situated over the cooling chip present in the unit. This liquid efficiently absorbs all the heat. There is also a baseplate and a thermal plate that supports this heat transfer process. When the liquid gets hot it passes through the radiator that eventually exposes it to cold air using fans. This reduces the temperature of the water that continues the process over again.
Air Cooling
Although considered as a less effective than the liquid cooling system, CPU air coolers are also widely used. You may be surprised to know that they are one of the most commonly used cooling systems inside the computers. With easy reliability and lower cost, you can use air cooling systems to maintain your gaming units.
Process
This system consist of a plate that is connected to a CPU air cooling system along with a heat exchanger present in the middle. The energy gets transferred from this plate to the heat sink that is built using little metal. As a result, heat passes through the metal in upward direction. The warm air remaining in the heat sink is further pushed outside from the CPU and keeps it cool.
You can buy any of these CPU coolers at best prices from any online computer shop.
